On Monday May 2nd 1983, I had my first working day in my father’s company, Johs. Pedersen. My father founded the company in 1975, and for the past 40 years I have spent my time here at the address Hjulmagervej in Viborg.
It has been some remarkable years. They have given me travels, a career and a development that I could not have imagined even in my wildest dreams. Together with my family and my hobbies, the company has been the entire foundation of my life.
Turning 30, 40, 50 and 60 respectively, I always felt this was a good opportunity to celebrate with parties and receptions for business relations and generally make these memorable days memorable for myself, my family, friends, employees – yes for all important people around me.
But even my 10 th, 20 th, 25 th and 30 th anniversaries at JP could have been an occasion for a big celebration, but my birthdays had somehow marked everything that I thought worth celebrating.
Now that I have reached my 40th anniversary, I want to express this in a completely different way. Not with a huge party, but with a written memory that became this book. My desire is to create a strong memory by recounting some of the most important highlights, significant moments and defining impacts of my more than 14,000 days as an employee at the company. Along with stories, the book is filled with pictures from my showroom with classic German cars. My collection consists of specimens from a more than 35 years development. A dedicated hobby that combines both my work and my highly valued free time.
Today, my collection reaches almost 100 cars, and I have tried to the best of my ability to select 40 of them, which will be described in more details in the book – along with more general descriptions of my classic, German favourites: Volkswagen, Porsche, Mercedes- Benz and BMW. All spiced up with exciting photos and video clips.
For me it has been a great pleasure to think back on some of the very big decisions and weird experiences I have been a part of since I agreed to be employed in my father’s company, Johs. Pedersen. The book is a gift to myself, but also to everyone who has supported both me, JP and all my employees over the past 40 years.
Wish you good reading – and THANKS…
