VW KARMANN GHIA COUPÉ

VW

Car No. 218

5/1956

Motor: 1,2 l

The production of the VW Karmann Ghia Coupé was started up in a Karmann factory back in August 1955.

This vehicle is an early 1956 and it was originally exported from Germany to Vienna and from there it was sold to a happy new owner in Bordeaux, France, from which I bought it by a real coincidence.

I was there to pick up a fully restored Porsche 356 from one of our Porsche friends and I saw this car in their workshop and couldn’t resist buying it due to its beautiful colour combination in Trout blue (L330) with a dark blue/grey interior padding.

It is supplied with its original 1,2 l 30 hp engine. Upon receipt I had it fully restored with dual Okrasa carburettors, which result in a slightly better acceleration and a few more hp than the standard 30 hp engine.
