Porsche type 964 was replacing the Porsche 911 3,2 l Carrera and it was 85% new compared to its predecessor. The 964 was made available as a 1989 model, and the 964 Turbo model was introduced in March 1990 with the model type 965. This Turbo was meant to be the successor to the model 930, but when the vehicle was introduced, they decided to reuse the 3,3-l engine from the 930 model with some minor improvements on the engine. As such the total output became 320 hp. In January 1993 Porsche released the 964 Turbo 3,6 l - now developing 360 hp.
Of the 965 3,3 l Turbo a total of 3.660 vehicles were built.
History
This car was made for the European market but got sold to its first owner in Japan. It is finished in a unique combo of metallic black with a Matador red leather package and supplied with its original engine and 5-speed transmission.
In 2006 and with just 80.000 km on the clock the engine was given a major restoration.
The vehicle remained in Japan with two different Japanese owners until 2017 where it was exported to the UK.
I purchased the vehicle back in March 2019 and has made a major engine service job upon its arrival to DK. The vehicle is installed with time-typical RH 3,6 Turbo style wheels and red BREMBO callipers. NB – although it was for many years in countries with right-hand drive cars, this one is left-hand drive.
